Assigned: friday, 11/15
Due: sunday, 11/17 by 10 p.m.
Option A:
Consider Atticus’s advice to Scout about trying to see things from another person’s point of view. How might this apply to different characters in the book? Write a paragraph about what it means to try and “walk around in the skin” of another character.
Option B:
Analyze the scene in which Scout tries to engage Mr. Cunningham in conversation. (angry mob scene) Write a paragraph explaining the reasons why Scout approaches him and the different ways she tries to appease the tension. Also include why Mr. Cunningham eventually reacts to Scout the way he does. Use examples from the text in crafting your response.
Option C:
What do you think the author means when she writes that Walter “had forgotten he was a Cunningham” by the time he reached Scout and Jem’s house? Write a paragarph exploring what this implies about the differences between the Cunningham and Finch families, and how a person’s self-identity can help or hinder a connection with someone else.
